The Basra Oil&Gas exhibition in Iraq has been recognized by the Iraqi Ministry of Oil. The Middle East International Exhibition Group has been authorized by the Iraqi Ministry of Oil to act as the official exclusive agent for the exhibition.
Iraq is undoubtedly one of the most attractive regions in the world, with huge oil and gas reserves and production potential. Iraq's proven oil reserves are 143 billion barrels, accounting for approximately 10% of the world's total reserves. It is the world's third largest conventional proven oil reserves country after Saudi Arabia and Iran: 79 oil and gas fields have been proven (70 oil and 9 natural gas), of which only 23 have been developed, with an estimated reserves of 214 billion barrels.
The Iraqi government requires oil field operators to accelerate construction progress, increase oil production, and consider conducting a new round of international oil and gas development bidding to fill the financial gap caused by the decline in international oil prices. At present, China is the largest investor in Iraq's oil industry. PetroChina, Sinopec, and CNOOC, commonly known as the "three barrels of oil", have all invested in oil fields in Iraq, and the investment amount is large.

Iraq currently produces approximately 2.5 million barrels of oil per day. The proven natural gas reserves are 112 trillion cubic feet (1 cubic meter is approximately 35 cubic feet), ranking tenth among the world's major natural gas countries. Iraqi Oil Minister Hussein Shahristani said that in the next six to seven years, Iraq's oil production is expected to exceed that of other members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and major oil producing countries outside of this organization. At present, Iraq is the only OPEC member that is not subject to production quotas. Shahristani hopes that OPEC understands Iraq's urgent need for oil export revenue. At present, 35 international oil companies have been approved to participate in bidding for Iraq's oil and gas contracts, including Chevron, Shell, ExxonMobil, BP, Russian Luke, Italian Eni, and PetroChina. China National Petroleum Corporation and British Petroleum Corporation officially signed a service contract agreement for the Rumaila Oilfield in Iraq with the Iraqi Ministry of Petroleum in Baghdad in November 2009.
